Nerve Gas
01
Any of several chemical weapons designed to interrupt the transmissions of nerve signals, many of which are classified as weapons of mass destruction by the UN. The 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention made it illegal for most countries to create or possess such substances.
Once airborne, the nerve agents can be absorbed through the skin as well as inhaled, making full-body protective clothing a necessity.
Major varieties include G agents (tabun, sarin, soman, cyclosarin), V agents (VE, VG, VM, VX), and other compounds.
